DC modern quilt guild meeting

This weekend was an outdoor DC Modern Quilt Guild meeting. We met at the beautiful Botanical Gardens. It was a hot day but luckily there is a nice shady spot with benches.  Everyone brought some hand stitch projects to work on while we all were so inspired by the show and tell... Here are a few pics I was able to snap :)

It was wonderful hanging out with such a creative and talented bunch.  And I loved that it forced me to walk a bit of our beautiful nations capital...
I never get tired of seeing this building!

Looking forward to the next meet up!!

English Paper Piecing

I finally finished a quilt, start to finish! It's not big but I do think its pretty fun :)

The star is English paper piece (epp) and then appliquéd onto the grey background.

I did dense straight line quilting (which I finished at the DCMQG retreat) and finished it off with a scrappy binding.

Love successful days :)

Happy Summer!!

And another pouch..

I feel as though you never can have enough zippered pouches. I use them for just about everything and, to my husbands dismay, leave all around the house :)

I can't remember where I saw a finished Sew Together Bag by Sew Demented (either Instagram or one of the blogs I read), but I totally loved it!

I downloaded it immediately from Craftsy (which you should definitely check out if you haven't already!) and sewed it up the next day.
Although I had to take out a few seems because I didn't quite understand a step I fixed it quickly and finished it in a matter of a few hours.

All the pockets are perfect for holding all your sewing essentials. Plus everything has its own space so no tangles or shuffling to see what's at the bottom!

This one is coming along to the beach with me so I can have a little sewing project to work on :)

DC Modern Quilt Guild

PI was lucky enough to attend one of the three days of the first DCMQG retreat!!! Funny enough it was held on University of Maryland's campus at a fraternity house no less :). Amazingly it was a great space! And clean, haha. A huge thank you to Anna who did an excellent job planning and hosting!

I was able to chat with friends and get some much needed quilting done.
I loved every minute :)

And look at my quilting...

I finished all those straight lines! It is so tedious but wasn't so bad with all the people to distract me just enough to not quit.

I am so happy that this one now just needs a good binding instead of being an eternal UFO :)
