DC Modern

Today was the August DCMQG meeting at Capital Quilts.

It's so nice to see and chat with everyone.

Meli shared a tutorial on paper piecing :)

There were also some really pretty show & tells...

Even some clothing was shared :)

Thanks to everyone who came out. I'm really looking forward to next months meeting.

Final week

It was my last week in Arlington.  It was an interesting week. It started off strong with very eager  knitters and embroideries and then my health took a dive. Actually my son was the one that caught a virus that I then was "lucky" to get as well.
Unfortunately I had to cancel one of the days to get myself back to shape. Despite the day set back there was lots of knitting and lots of cute embroidery going on. Check it out...

Next week I'll be in Falls Church teaching some eager kids machine sewing skills!

Final days

This past week was my final camp week for Summer 2013 and my first at Falls Church.
I had such a great time I hope to have more weeks at Falls Church in future camps.
Take a look at all the sewing from this week.

I love how enthusiastic kids get when they make their own stuff. I like to think I have planted some sewing seeds and I can't wait to see it grow!!

Happy summer!

Another productive week!

Wow did the time fly this week! Everyone was so busy making fun projects that there were days that I completely forgot to take pictures :( I was able to take a few, though it doesn't reflect the amount of work or finished projects that resulted last week.

In the morning camp, students learned to sew on sewing machines by competing 4 projects, one of which where these fabric trays.

Then there was free choice and the kiddos had so much fun picking their projects

In the afternoon camp, Open Studio, students picked out their own projects and brought their own fabrics and set to work....

This student picked a fun dress to complete.

This kiddo was mass producing pillow covers for her room (6 total!)

A quilt reflecting her favorite books. Can you guess a few blocks?

4 new curtains for her room. Love those colors!!!

Thank you to all my campers for making this such a fun week.
I have one more week at Arlington and then I move to Falls Church.
