QuiltCon

I have just returned from the first ever QuiltCon. I had a blast! I met up with my cousin who lives in Miami which made the trip even better :)
It was in Austin, Tx. What a great city! I had never been to Texas and I definitely have to return.
The inspiration was endless and i am totally motivated to get my quilt on.
I took 3 great workshops: modern quilting designs, paper piecing blocks, and machine piecing hexagons. I learned so much and along the way met some well known quilters whose blogs I read. So it was a bit of a celebrity show for me, hehe
Hope you enjoy my weekend in pictures :)

QuiltCon bound

So I am on my way to Austin TX today to join a slew of other quilters at the first ever Quilt Con. I am getting excited to see some blog friends and meet new ones. I even was able to convince my cousin who lives in Miami to join me! I am really excited to see her :)
I'm getting myself in the quilty mood already while on the plane. I am doing some hand sewing called English paper piecing. I have made a table runner before using this technique but they were hexagons. This time around I'm using diamonds. It will be interesting to see what exactly this turns into. I have a few ideas running in the head :)

Summer Activities Fair

Tonight was the Arlington Summer Activities Fair. School of Crafts had a table and I had so much fun talking to old students and meeting new ones. It made me so exciting for summer!

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone out there has been feeling loved this Valentine's Day! I made a little project in order to get my home in the spirit of the holiday.  Did anyone else get into the spirit?  Share with me what you made :)

As I am sure you already figured out, the pillows quote one of my favorite Beatles song.  Also the song is played in one of my favorite movies all about love "Love Actually".

Hand embroidery camp

I have been working on samples for my hand embroidery camp. Students will create a book band, bookmark, needle threader and more!!
For all their projects, students will choose the design they wish, transfer the pattern, and stitch. So start to finish its all their own creation!
After making these I am becoming a bit obsessed with embroidering :)

Mish mosh

Did anyone else notice the mosh mosh of posts that where just published? Apparently a bunch of my posts where processing and just got posted and completely out of order. Oops!
Sorry for the Mish Mosh over here. I am going to start double checking when I hit publish :)
And just because I don't like posts without pictures, enjoy one of my little guy pushing all the buttons of my sewing machine.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Merry Christmas!

To all of you out there that celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Below is my little elf in costume made by yours truly :)

Class Samples

Just trekking away at some samples for my new camps being offered, Intro to knitting and Intro to Hand Embroidery. Only 2 weeks until the Arlington Summer Activities Fair!

Another work in progress

This is what I'm working on tonight. I'm almost done, yay!
This is the second felt sewing machine I have made, so I have tweaked it a bit. It will be used for my display at the Arlington Summer Camp Fair next month.
If your going please stop and say hello!

Beginning the end ...

Oh it feels so good to be on the last step of this quit. I'm hand sewing the binding and then it will be ready to be cuddled up with! Once it's totally done ill take a pic :)

Finished!

The binding is done and this project is finally finished! I know I'm ready to cuddle up with this fun quilt :)

Thanks to all the members of the "Sew Fun" quilt bee who made all the blocks for me. It has only taken me 2 years to put it together :)
Also a big thank you to Cindy Luby who long arm quilted it with the fun bubbles!

Dc Modern

Today was a fantastic sewing day at Dc Modern! I was blown away at how much the guild has grown. I had started the group 4 years ago and we never had a turn out like today. It was quite cool to see. 17 machines were set up when I arrived and there were more people than that! I was thrilled and happy to be sewing among so many others that love sewing too.
Next months meeting we are off to Capital Quilts in Maryland. Hope to see some of you there :)
